Quality and service great. Children are very welcome and treated that way

The Mövenpick restaurant "Zur Historischen Mühle" is located at Zur Historischen Mühle 2, in 14469 Potsdam. Breakfast, international cuisine and dinner menus are served daily in the restaurant with palm house, beer garden and terrace. As a guest I drank a fine beer and ate a Wienerschnitzel. I liked both very much. The ambience and atmosphere is very pleasant there. The staff is very friendly, helpful and very valuable. I am happy to recommend this excellent address to others! Unfortunately, I have seldom seen staff that have so little interest in their guests. When entering the restaurant (Sunday, 11.30 a.m., shop by no means full) we were ignored for 5 minutes, another 10 minutes later, after we had looked for a table ourselves, menus were sullenly distributed. Another 10 minutes later, without anyone taking care of us, we left. It's a shame, but apparently that happens more often in the mill.

Desserts and cakes great. Viennese veal schnitzel super delicious. The accompanying potato salad was ok, cranberries would have been nice. The service staff are very courteous. Small drawback for the toilets, which do not correspond to the otherwise great atmosphere.

First the positive: a pleasant atmosphere and (at least with us) attentive service. However, the portions are clear. The pan fish is recommended; the roast beef, however, was cold and not 230g (even when fresh). With our extra request for salt & pepper, we got a different waitress. After a while the spices came without a word and with a gloomy expression. All in all rather mixed.

Unfortunately, the waiters are very rude and give different instructions when waiting in the reception area. B. "Just fight your way to any table" and "Just wait in front until a table becomes free". It's a shame that these instructions and angry looks have made you lose interest in the Mövenpick restaurant and prefer to go somewhere else.

We were in this beautiful restaurant for a celebration. The food (3 courses) was fantastic. The service staff had their hands full, were very attentive and friendly despite everything.

Very good options near the Castle. The option outside is cheaper but very rich.

Visited the restaurant for two on September 18, 2020. Right at the entrance we were told that it was not possible to sit down at a table on the left side of the terrace. The way in which we were told that was anything but friendly! Well, then you found a table on the right side, on the way there we met several service employees who didn't think it necessary to say hello. Hospitality definitely looks different! After 5 minutes the service staff came and brought us a card. However, we only wanted to order one coffee and one piece of cake each. We had told the service staff that, she said, obviously in a huff: She had to take other orders first ... I mean, when she is already at our table, what is so difficult about taking two coffee orders ?? Why run twice? Well, every course is known to make you slim. As I already suspected, we left the shop without coffee and cake, because after 15 minutes. she still hasn't taken our order. Well then we found another place where the staff can still enjoy their work.

Very good restaurant next to Sanssouci palace. Good selection of dishes, German cuisine, we loved Flammekueche! Good service.

Our wedding dinner in December 2018 was phenomenal! The organization with all related arrangements was excellent! We made a first impression of the location spontaneously without prior notice, the staff were very courteous. After a written confirmation of the reservation of a hall, our requests were met perfectly. Even beyond! We had chosen a menu and instead of the dessert wanted a small wedding cake according to individual wishes. A young pastry chef was very open to our ideas. I also got pregnant shortly before the wedding and wanted changes to my food, and that was just as important. I look forward to dining there again. We came specially from Berlin because Potsdam is so beautiful! I can only recommend this restaurant to everyone. Price-performance ratio was very good!

We have chosen the 'breakfast tower' for two! People, price almost 30 euros! Price / performance ratio unfortunately not given, glasses in which the dishes are served have unclean limescale deposits! You get 5 mini rolls, no advice from the staff, if necessary, additional rolls Cup of coffee, the question whether everything was okay only came at the end, we didn't even have the chance to order some creamer, cheese stuck together, fish was dry, cakes were dried out, restaurant seating / furniture badly worn, fountain Inside area not in function, was full of cobwebs, staff looked annoyed at our table?

Unfortunately, we couldn't eat at your place, because the waitress, who was on the terrace on the left, gave us to understand in front of the entrance that she wasn't interested. A nice "Hello, what can I do for you or unfortunately we are already very full" would have done it too. We just got a "you don't need to grin, I don't have a seat". very sympathic

Good restaurant. The quality is good, but most of all the place is a reference in the area. Partly because it's the only real restaurant in the park and partly because the building is beautiful and well-kept. The area near the entrance has tables that are a little crowded, but the large hall on the right is spacious and allows for both small tables and "parties" so groups can go without disturbance. The food is good, one step higher than the usual "whatever" restaurant. I wouldn't ONLY go to eat there but because we are usually in the park taking a good walk it becomes a habit to stop by and find something that works every time. It's a bit pricey, but expected given the location and position.

We were just there, after a 20 minute wait without being served we decided to go again. If it had been super crowded, you could have understood that, but it wasn't! When the waitress saw us leaving, she spoke very snippily as to whether we had not been served. Then she just replied that is an absurdity, in the same snippy tone and laughed at us! At least that's not how I imagine professional service!

Beautiful location inside the palace area. Great view outside. The food was simply yummy, options for vegetarians too. The cakes and simply to die for. The meal portion was good and sufficient. The only downside is the time they take to serve food, its painfully slow. Also, initially the service was bad when the waiters fail to notice you and you keep waiting for something as basic as the menu card. But later on when the food arrived, the waitress was alert.

Nice waitress, good service and very tasty food. The prices are not high and the quality of the dishes is good. The ambience is friendly, inviting and cozy. All dishes are freshly prepared and the menu has a large selection. The toilets are very clean. I really enjoyed visiting the restaurant.

Nice portion sizes especially considering the price. Location very convenient for an instant lunchtime, will be visiting again. Waiters were enthusiastic to help us with our menu options. Loved how extremely fast the service was, will be coming again. Wide selection of food and drink, surely something for everyone.

My wife and I had lunch here today and it was great. We both had a different Rösti and they were tasty and plentiful. The Potsdamer Klosterbier was excellent. This was our second visit, the first being a couple of years ago. We were not disappointed with our second lunch visit. We thought the prices were very reasonable for what we ate and drank; less than €40 for two Rösti and two large beers.

The food is heavily overpriced and the pizza-like product was very very salty. When we were ordering, we said that we are going to share food but later we had to ask for a spare plate because we didn't recive any. After that we asked for balsamico sauce and got vinegar.

So the food was definitely great and also the location was very nice. From 2 people must be reserved beforehand, which can make a spontaneous visit with a large group difficult. I myself was very satisfied and always had a very friendly service. The caramel dessert was gigantic.

OMG!, After a long walk within the sanssouci palace have a great and delightful time eating a piece of the finest cake in all Potsdam, german classics like black forest cake, lime, mango, or whatever you choose will be great. Pair it with a great coffee or a good beer. Enjoy every spoon in your mouth of this celestial place. Visa, MasterCard, Cash.

Went for 30 EUR Sunday brunch, and it is totally overpriced. While the price includes all kinds of drinks (all coffee and tea specialties, sodas etc.) and foods, the quality of all of it is subpar. There is nothing "fine dining" about what's offered there. Most of their prepared foods seem unhealthy and greasy. There are only a few vegan options (not advertised as "vegan", just vegan by nature such as tomatoes and olives), but basically non of the warm foods, prepared salads, or desserts (!) are vegan. They do not have vegan milk alternatives (!!!), I asked the waiter for soy or any other milk for my coffee (oat, almond, rice), but they did not have any.

In agreement with some of the other reviewers, nice location for restaurant but failed terribly on services!

Very good place to rest after a full day visit at the Potsdam palaces. The service is nice and the drinks very good.

Typically unfriendly if not down right rude. A great location ruined by the unfriendly staff. When asking for a table, we we given one word answers. Should not be this hard. But of course being a tourist trap they are not motivated to improve.

Overcrowded.

I really like the atmosphere of this place. Moreover, the food is also very good here. It is very closely located to Sansoussi Palace. It also has a Biergarten, thus very relaxing to take a beer in good weather.

Unfriendly service, my bowl tasted like nothing, coffee was very bad, my mom’s order got confused. Only one out of four dishes at our table was good. The rest had no flavor. Restaurant looks nice though.

Good food...service is a bit slow

We ate at the barbag outside which is always part of the restaurant. Curry wurst and other 3 specialties. Good food, good price .... only sin I would say the proportions: more chips than meat.
